Plug-Ins for Vocal Processing

Hi, I'm totally new to this game so please bear with me if I ask redundant questions. I've just started work on my first album (dance-techno) and have not been too satisfied with the quality of the vocal tracks.

Whatplug-inscan I use to make the vocals more "funky"? I've fiddled around with Antares Autotune and like the mettalic effect it gives to vocals. Can certainly use that for a couple of my songs. What otherplug-ins(PC-based) along the lines of Autotune can I use to spice up the vocal tracks?

Any and all feedback will be really helpful. Thanks.

Thanks.

Have you tried vocoders? Sometimes some simple filtering (telephone sound or even a bullhorn) can add some "spice". There is a guy named "Scooter" in Europe right now who is very successful with that kinda stuff.

Use Amp Farm to make some nice distorted industrial style .
Use the AM quality preset of Waves Q10 in conjunction with an AMP FARM... I did this and one of the songs of the album I produced is being radioplayed intensely.

Do not stay only in the Autotune world. Cher and a hundred other producers have already beat that horse to death.

Try time-based effects like flangers and phasers. Try envelope filters. David

Wow. Thanks for all the above feedback. Now I need to find each of theplug-insand play around with them.

Would anyone know of any school or institute in the Bay Area where I could go for a crash course on the differentplug-insor mixing in general?

Sorry Alecio,

Whenever someone says a word or phrase that sounds silly to me I pretend like they sneezed!

It's just me being a dork of course! :D

Try putting them through some of the soft synths that are out there. I've had some luck with Indigo. You can also try using multiple sends to a ring modulator on one return, a flange on another, etc and blending the results to taste. The vocal formanting in Digital Performer has also yielded some very interesting results for me.

the best stereo panned - flanged -distorted delay I have ever used was from an SGX 200o Express patch I created two years ago. Some north american engineers were amazed where di I pick that little devil sound.

I once tried the Orange plug-in, that thing is just plain weird but it has cool sounds in her. If you want to experiment thats the tool.
