Sample Rate

So.. I am using the rme converters through an echo layla and I have my echo set to external word clock sync, but with the echo driver you still have to set the sample frequency.

Now common sense would tell me that if you are syncing to external sync why would you have any say over the freq?

Anyway, do other people have similar setups with other pci cards? Does your card's driver make/allow you set the sample freq. when on external sync?

Not familiar with the RME, but if its supplying the clock, then it has to have a way of determining its own sample rate.

And you may still have to set the Echo to match the RME.

The echo driver has no setting for determining it's freq. from the input. Even if you are clocking to input. Strange. I asked support about it and they acted like I was talking out of my ass.

Do any other companies do this? Anybody sync to external clock and have it pick up the freq. from the clock?

How are you sending the clock information from the RME to the Layla? Do you have a word clock cable (with a BNC connector)?

Give us an idea of how things are hooked up. I have both the Layla and the RME, but I clock both off of an external Lucid clock, and have zero problems.

I am using the RME clock and I have them connected via a BNC cable.

It works great.

I am just talking about the Layla driver's control panel. When you set it to external sync(word clock). You still have to set the sample freq. Or you can set it to unlocked, in which the application can set it to whatever it wants. I prefer to lock it to the "correct" freq. It would make sense that the driver be able to "lock" to the freq. of the word clock it is syncing to.
