Does anyone have any experience of these racking systems. Looking at using 3 10U units to rack my Protools HD system, patchbay, micpres, compressors, 1604 etc. Know they don't look amazing but could fix my portable racking problems if they do the job. Does anyone have any photos they could provide me with to demonstrate the Rig? Are they simply flightcases with Front / Back / Top lids? Is there enough clearance in the top to allow my 1604 with pod in factory position to accomadte all the leads feeding the patchbay to be permanantly connected? All help gratefully recieved. SBK's site raises as many questions as it answers.

No case made by SKB is ATA certified, so you can't call them flight cases. What that means is, it has not been tested and/or approved and certified. The big factor is the hardware. It is not recessable and/or locking. It is weak. If you fly with your gear in a SKB shock mount case, and the airline damages the gear as a result of a daulty latch, or an event opens the case, the airline is not liable. You must have the certification.

I own 3 SKB 12 space shockmount racks, and 1 SKB truck trunk. I use the cases because they are lightweight, and I handle all cartage myself. For my use, they are fine.

I would not recommend those injection molded all-in-one rack cases that you are talking about. They are not that strong.

E-mail me and I will send you pics of my PT HD3 rig.
