Let me preface this with the fact that I gave up cussin' long ago. 'cept for a few slips.
Well, hear me now:
F this computer.
F this hard drive.
F Windows.
F MS drivers.
And in conclusion, F those stupid quasi-circular-phillips head screws they use on this case I have.
Of course, I mean 'forget' when I say "F"
If anyone can help, great.:
Got a new 80GB HD and LiteON 523252 burner for Christmas. Rather than describe my personal hell of the last 2 days, here is where I"m at:
The 80GB new HD is now somehow formatted NTFS and recognized by 1.99GB of space in Windows. FDISK is of no use. Reformatting is of no use.
I have an old Prog. HDD I want to get rid of and use my current DataHDD(40GB) as the new Progs HDD. And the new 80GB as the DataHDD. So I must transfer the 40GB data to the 80GB HDD and then transfer/image the current C drive to the new one (as it will now be clean).
Windows2000, by the way.
Used a 98startup disk to format the new HD, which would only get recognized if it were the the only thing on the IDE channel. Weird.
And now it is nothing of use as it is seen as only one 1.99GB partition.
Add to this that the new CDRW will only get recoginzed as a CDROM, and it appears that I have no generic mmc)?) driver for it. Only a CDROM generic driver, and I can't find the microsoft generic one anywhere to download.
So, 14 hours later here I sit, with my machine gutted and all the parts that were on it 14 hours ago on it again.
Stop the madness. :d:
THANK YOU in advance
