What am I worth?

I'm planning on getting into the music scoring for animation in television (see my thread in the film forum here at ro.org to lend some advice there too =) and although I have an idea of some of the things I'll need and some of the hurdles I can expect to jump I have no idea what to charge for my services.

I'd love to say that art is priceless, because I believe that, but ultimately if I can't pay the upkeep I can't make the art, so..

Do you have any idea what a typical person in my position, in my industry of choice should charge as a newcomer to the game?

According to the number of replies to this, apparently I'm worth nothing. Although that's appropriate for the time being it won't help much in the future.

Any ideas on going rates for people scoring for tv/film?

Apprentice,

everyone in the word is worth something, but it is difficult for people here to assess the vaule of your work without any idea of what you are capable of doing.

I am not in the industry - and thus not qualified to tell you the going rate for people who perform the work that you want to get into.

However - perhaps if you put together a small resume of your experiences and areas of expertise - someone who is an expert in this field may be able to give you some info.

Don't get discouraged........... as my father always told me while i was growing up - the only limitations you have in life are those you set upon yourself......... you can succeed at anything if you only put your heart and soul into it.
