Yamaha MTX-8: Tape Speed Varies

Hello,

I own a Yamaha MTX-8 8 track cassette recorder. The tape speed has begun to vary considerably, as if someone were turning the pitch control. (This happens regardless of whether pitch control is set to fixed or variable). Any ideas about what might be the cause of this, and potential fixes? Thank you.

I used to have one of those a long time ago, and i remember i had the same problems that u do with it, Try cleaning the transport super-clean especially the capstan wheel..(the rubber wheel).
If this doesnt do the trick u might have to get the unit serviced. Had the replace the transport motor on mine after a while..
