wait wait..... Can we just say "the brick" once.... now everyone doesn't have to reccomend it

The Electro Harmonix 12AY7 Mic Pre is $189 and IMO is an incredible bargain. That's just one channel though, so you're talking almost $400 for 2 channels. Not a bad deal. It's got focus, wonderful color and allows enough transients through to provide a nice dimension. A very nice quality signal in my opinion.

Get that nice and solid pre from Groove Tubes! Can't think of it's name right now... "The Rock" or something?? :-?

That would be the ceramic-fired-cubic-construction-unit, often confused with the field stone or driveway paver, both of which, I hear, are virtually noiseless passive devices.

ya but they are unbalanced out, but i heard they are coming out with "the stone" which has balanced outs :D

the brick is a good choce. however if you are after somethng with less color and more transparent you should investigate the DMP-3 by M audio. It has a 20 hz to 100 kilohertz response and appers to have some specs that make it quite decent for the price.

one can not record on specs alone...

true the brick is verry colored but for that price the only transpatenr mic pre that i would recomend would be somthing like a makie vlz-pro, you can get a 1604 for that mutch second hand some times. but if you want somehting better i would go with the uhhhhhh after all thouse parities ive for gotten the real name.
