All the device setup is god, mono in, stereo out and I downloaded asio4all and set it as my driver. I've restarted my laptop, cube base and the interface many times but I'm still having the same issue. Any help will be much appreciated (:

Don't use Asio4All, your Alesis interface comes with it's own ASIO driver, use that one instead, set in the Device Setup menu and then recheck all your ins and outs (in Cubase) once you've made the switch.
