We're finalizing a project for a fairly well-known singer/songwriter and, for logistic reasons, are looking to master in the LA area. We've got a few initial appointments set-up at a few of the larger mastering facilities (The Mastering Lab - Doug Sax, Bernie Grundman, Precision Mastering).

However, as always, budget is a concern. The project is acoustic-based, so there's not a lot of drums, etc. We'd like to find someone with the chops for stuff like this, without quite having to pay the rates some of the "big guys" are asking.

Anyone have any suggestions or alternatives?

Thanks!

Thanks, Joe - We have to do it in LA due to logistics. The producer is there, it's an easy trip for me to get there, and we both want to be there for the sessions.

FYI - Had a nice talk with Joe Gastwirt. Real nice guy and definitely a seasoned pro. Didn't get a chance to visit his facility yet as he moved everything into his house after an illness. The producer is going up to see him this week sometime.

Also had a nice visit with Robert Hadley at the Mastering Lab. He basically offers a 1/2 price rate to indie (no label money) projects, so that's awfully appealing as well.

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone.
