I am finishing a CD and will be sending it off to be mastered . there are 10 songs and it will probably be getting considerable local radio play. Do I need to insert any codes in the master? If I wanted to master it myself how would I go about setting up the IRS :cool: C codes?

You have to apply for the code, if you do a search on the web you'll find the organization that you have to apply to. Then they'll know who the song belongs to and can disperse any money from radio. This is mostly an outside the US thing. Once you get the label code, you then have to assign an unique song code for each song.

This is encoded into the CD when you burn it.
ISRC codes are easily set up / encoded using the Sonic Solutions
ISRC codes are easily set up / encoded using the Sonic Solutions System that I work with. I believe the Sadie System also can encode the information. I am not certain about the wide variety of other DAWs on the market.
Embedding these codes in the CD is not mandatory, but will facilitate getting info to ASCAP or BMI for publishing royalty purposes.
