Where should the mics be for double tracking a vocal
next to each other?
1 ft apart and 1 ft from source?
I seem to be getting phase problems
Thanks in advance

If you are referring to recording two vocalists at the same time (I tend to think of doubling as one person recording the same part twice), if I am using two mics I like to put them face to face about 2 - 3 feet apart. That way they can watch each others eyes and mouths. I put a 24" x 24" piece of plexiglass mounted on a mic stand between them to get rid of the phase/bleed problems if they occur. I put it at an angle to reduce direct bounce back.
