AKG D112

I have a nice AKG D112 for sale. Only the mic, no packaging or case.

Well it is a very nice kick drum mic. The D 112 has earned a well-deserved reputation worldwide as one of the best kick drum microphone ever made. Heavy-footed drummers won’t faze it, because the D 112 handles up to 160 dB SPL with no audible distortion.
The D 112 is also an excellent choice for use with bass cabinets, trombones, etc.

I have had a series of bad experiences with that model, fueled by butthead drummers who think that they are God's gift to music and that that mic is all they'll ever use on kick...Sorry !

No apology necessary. Nothing kills the experience of recording like arrogance and a closed mind (I've worked with that attitude as well). The D112 seems to me to be pretty placement picky and all alliteration aside, I've been wanting to get a second kick mic.

There have been several posts as of late regarding kick drum mics, and the D112. Most, but not all, had other faves than that particular mic for kick. I used to have a pair of D112s in the studio, but now they sit in the live sound mic locker as extras when I run out of my favorites.
They do OK on kick, but there are lots better. E-V RE-20, Sennheiser 421s, ATM25, for starters, and ALL of those work MUCH better on horns and amps than the D112 has done for me. Than there's the Audix D6 which will probably be my next kick "flavor". And, yeah, an arrogant drummer who is still trying to figure out the difference between stick size and shoe size is a bit frustrating at times, but it could be worse. Like being a drummer who thinks that he can mix!
