So you're stuck on a desert island that happens to have a magic room that sounds great with anything, a fully stocked mic closet, and a 2 channel recorder with no pres.

What 2 channel pre would you choose, and why?
(I'm looking for a 2 channel pre, and thought this would be an entertaining way of asking.)

What I'm looking at:

Great River, AMEK and Vintech Neve clones

Sebatron (haven't heard one yet, so I don't know how to classify it)
A few other random items.

So I'm looking for the pre with the most flexibility. Something that captures a performance with accuracy and musicality.

What would you choose, and more importantly, why?

I just tracked a super-cool band this weekend called Houseguest.(from Akron Oh). We got some of the best sounds I've heard in a long time.

I have Great Rivers, Aurora's, U Audio, Millennia's, you name it. But, for the bass cab, guitar cab and Vox, it came down to the Vintech X73i >UAudio 1176>protools. We mucked around with many combinations of pre's and comp's but this combo sounded the best by far. Everyone in the band also agreed.

Just an opinion.
