Hi all:

I've found myself in need of a stagebox/snake for live orchestral recording. Having done this for several years now and only using direct cable from the mic to the pre, I am at a loss and can't seem to find anyone who makes a really good snake. Suggestions would be most appreciated - those of you who operate store fronts that carry such products, your input is even more appreciated!

I'm not looking for the average Whirlwind/ProCo stuff, I need something clean and that won't make me feel as though I've wasted thousands of dollars on good cables only to have them run through a sh*tty stage box.

Also, only 12 inputs/outputs would be needed at most and I will likely have the pres in front of the stage box which in turn will be running straight into my ADC .

Thanks in advance!

Canare makes some pretty high-quality snakes. With a number of their boxes, they even have the option of a multipin disconnect to allow for different boxes to be put on the end (they have 2 that I've used- one with splits and the other without). They ain't cheap, but the quality is certainly there.

For my work, I found it easier just to make my own snakes. Mogami cable is easy to work with and good quality. Put tec-flex on the tails, shrink wrap the imporant parts and you have a hell of a good quality snake at a pretty reasonable cost.
