i was thinking the universal audio 710 twinfinity, that seems interesting
or maybe the summit audio
i wanted a hybrid but I'm not sure
i need a good vocal preamp
something with color
i was also looking at the universal audio 610 solo
or a modded golden age 73 with Neve parts and carnhill inputs
i use a hard disk recorder not a computer
so i'll be plugging right into that
but i need a great one channel pre for vocals in the 600 range but i can go over by a couple hundred
mostly pop vocals
soft rock
no screams or heavy rock or rap
somthing with good ***y vibrant color.
any help
help
help?
help?
lol just kidding
but seriously
pop vocals, soft rock vocals, maybe r and b
good color
600 range

So are you asking about preamps or are you asking about microphones? You know you need to have both. I find it more advantageous to have a $100 microphone plugged into a $500 preamp than a $500 microphone plugged into a $100 pre-amp. Of course, a $100 microphone plugged into a $100 preamp is also musically quite adequate. My personal favorite preamps are those highly colorful guys that made rock 'n roll so popular, NEVE, API. My favorite microphones are my Neumann U67 & KM56 tubes & my RCA 77 DX's but mostly, I use SM57/58's 99% of the time. Besides, I don't use my good microphones on crappy rock 'n roll sessions. Although I might consider using them on crappy country sessions? Hmmm?? Now I can't decide? What should I do? I know! Go for a motorcycle ride!

Poop poop poop poop... Sounds good to me.
