Hey Clark ! Very nice song and recording..
There is a few timming issues with the drums and a bit of overplaying that was disturbing to me (specially around 1:18)
I know it's hard to play soft and tight.
Also I thought the bass is a bit heavy around 120 - 150 hz... (but it's not a major problem)

Again, I'm always happy to listen to your songs.. Well written and performed!

Thanks pcrecord, I felt like the bass was heavy there too. I had already backed off it a couple decibels but I was scared to go any further since that is such an important frequency for the instrument, but hearing it from you gave me the confidence I needed to make it right!

What kind of timing issues are you hearing in the drums? Is it in the snare ghost notes? Or the kick drum? The drums are all midi (toontrack ezdrummer) so timing errors are easy to fix. And what do you mean by overplaying? I have made a few changes to the drums in mix 2. Let me know if this fixed the problem you were hearing.

Yup - there's something funky happening with the time at 1:18 --- on first listen it sounds like a skip in the track but it's not -- it's something else... it might actually be the kick.... I keep listening to it trying to decide.

DogsoverLava, are you listening to mix1 or mix2?

By the way, why didn't anyone point out that the acoustic guitar was out of phase?! lol!

It's much better ! The bass sits well and is not overpowering other instruments like it is..

As for the timming. It's very hard to tell what is happening and I know It can be tricky with midi instruments.. your drum might as well be right on time but feel of if the other instruments is pushing or pulling the time.
I still hear some out of place hit, with the bass drum and the snare here and there in the song.

I did find the guitar to be a bit thin but it didn't bothered me because of the fuller piano and bass arrangement.
Explain why you say it's out of phase and how it happened (multi mics ? )

I used three mics on the acoustic guitar. They were slightly out of phase with each other. Listen to the guitar at the beginning of mix2 compared to the new mix I am posting with this comment.
