Hey everyone, let's welcome Steve Devino, our new moderator for the: producers, engineers, hardware forum!

Steve started his audio engineering career in 1972 when he and his buddy rewired the patchbay of their high school theater's sound system and forgot to label it. Since this school happened to be a 2500 seat cultural center outside NYC they got to do sound or help with sound for many major national and local acts, from Harry Chapin to the Metropolitan Opera. Reputation on a local music shop lead to a gig doing live sound for 2 years as a full time gig for a popular regional band in NYC.

Engineering skills were further developed on the design and tech side when he co-invented and received patents for a unique stereo television transmission system that sampled audio and converted it to composite video then reversed the DSP based audio signal synthesis and measurement techniques for extremely high end IC testers. All the while playing guitar and recording friends in bands, pit bands etc.

Steve opened his own recording studio in 1998 and has amassed over 2000 hours of Pro Tools tracking, mixing and editing since. His studio, Granite Rocks Recording (graniterocks.com) features an HD2 system, pro control and a 192i/o. Steve is an expert in digital audio sampling theory and doing mixes entirely inside of Pro Tools. He loves to demystify technologically complex systems and theories and provides classes in audio engineering and one-on-one pro tools training at his studio.

Nice to have you here Steve!

Welcome Aboard :w:

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I am looking forward to the challenge of helping people understand the deep and mystical world of digital audio and to learning as much as I can from all of you on the forum.

I'd also like to make the forum a place where its "OK" to talk about doing mixes totally in Pro Tools or other DAWs. Where outboard gear consists of great mic pre's and a coffee maker!

Welcome aboard, Mate!
Aint it funny how just MENTIONING coffee perks everyone up? I just woke up an hour ago (5AM), and was faced with the decision whether to go back to sleep or get up and make the coffee. Ahhh, this coffee tastes good!
If you need any help, have any fresh ideas for RO, or feel the need for any new features here, just let me know. I'll be here for ya. synergetekMac.com" target="_blank

"The digi world ain't going away."
I like that! Being a tubehead with 24/96 converters hardwired between my ears and some braincells (this mod cost me a fortune), this is music to my ears.. er, I mean to my digital converters. :D

Hey Jules, I really enjoyed your presence and wit, wonder who's going to keep me up to date on important stuff like Monte Python quotes - best of everything to you.

Welcome Steve, glad to have you aboard. I'm looking forward to a thorough re-hash of why the Nyquist theorem isn't BS - You obviously have the right qualifications, can't lose with a name like that... Steve
