At the moment I have a simple set up of pro tools 8 on an iMac and a simple 2 track m-audio box.
What I would like to do is get a simple controller I can plug straight in and user it on pro tools. I'd want it to be able to:
- If the fadders are moved on the controller, its move on the screen and vice versa
- Have a solo and mute button
- Around 8~ fadders
- Be able to EQ (Not a must)
My budget is about $200~ so does anyone have any good suggestions?

IMO the Faderport is the better way to go for quality reasons.
The second one only has 1 fader though? Whats so bad about the first one?
If 8 motorized faders are a MUST-Have, then the BCF2000 will get
If 8 motorized faders are a MUST-Have, then the BCF2000 will get you there but its just not a quality unit.
The motors in the faders are noisy to begin with and there have been numerous reports of button, fader, unit failure.
All that being said, you're not going to do better for the price range for a unit with multiple motorized faders.
i've used an alpha track. the capability it has over the fader-
i've used an alpha track. the capability it has over the fader-port is the led display, multiple knobs for pluggin parameter control, and assignable buttons. i'd rather spend more time setting up groups and workarounds, and have a quality control surface, than an insensitive/unresponsive mutli channel one. i'd either get an alpha track, or save and get a mackie mcu, which is like 650 used. can't compare alpha track/vs fader port on feel, but features alone sell it to me. i'd hate to be cycling thru channels, and not see the name of the track on the led display. single channel controllers are compromised enough, without guessing what channel your adjusting.

tascam 1082, and it doubles as an interface. gotta cough up another hundred bucks. it's the only reputable compromise for the price. you'll just have to stay conscious of when your banking faders. personally i'm used to mutiple faders, so that's what i would buy, just becuase i find having multiple faders w/ no readout, mildly less annoying than just one fader. personal preference only.
