Damn I'm glad I stumbled upon this site! I'll be sifting through all this info for weeks...
For now I have two questions (perhaps silly ones).
1)Does anyone know off the top of their head what a DAE Error-6045 is in Protools? All of a sudden, I can't record for more than about 5 seconds before this little frustrating alert pops up, and it doesn't seem to be helped by using a low track count, or varying the buffer size.

Also, has anyone used the Fxpanison VST to RTAS converter? I've got some VST's and am debating on shelling out the 100 bucks for the converter. I also have Nuendo (but no hardware). I suppose I could do midi stuff in there and import it into Protool(?) Anyway, any help (especially with the DAE error) would be greatly appreciated!

this is an error which stems from norton anti-virus, turn the auto scan off on norton and you should be fine. Recording on the drive that protools is on won't do this but it will slow down performance of protools when you have plenty of regions and edits. It will make your computer freeze up, or take like 30 seconds just for playback to start, generally always record on another drive if you have on available.

If your're using PT LE Hardware (001,002,MBOX), you should have an ASIO driver (Digidesign ASIO 6.1.1) so that you can use it with Nuendo , Cubase and Logic.

I have used the FXpansion VST to RTAS converter and think that it's definetely worth it. Not all VST FX and Instrument plugs work though. I have the Emagic EXS24mkII, Steinberg XPhraze & TC Works Native Bundle 3.1 all working. I understand that most of the NI plugs will work also and that NI is going to release RTAS versions of all these anyway.
