I recorded another Zeppelin N4N cover with a guest vocalist - this time Ten Years Gone. This track is all me except the vocals - drums are hand programmed note by note in Superior Drummer 3 for ref. I'm trying to match (and improve) on the Zeppelin mix - Mine's a little brighter probably and lacking the warmth but it's a fairly dynamic song with lots of complexity - so perfect for mix practising.

Is there anything immediate and obvious here that jumps out? Anything obviously egregious or telling? I'll spend the next 4 or 5 refining this and would love some feedback.

Hi !
I don't know if the original was like that but I'm not digging the bass being on the right side.. I'd put it in the center and give it a slight push in the 60hz area.
Also, I wasn't sure about the vocal reverb but when the drums start with the other instruments it works well.. Maybe it could be longer when the vocal is nearly alone..
For the rest, you did a fantastic job !
PS, I can be wrong since I'm on earbuds.. I'll try to listen to it in my studio this evening.. ;)

Thanks Kmetal

Here's a video after yet another mix tweak - I had a few levels "off" with some of the guitar parts in the mix and a few errant bass notes that were a little too aggressive so I tamed them. I rendered the audio to 320 MP3 as part of the video conversion process (from the wave files) I thought I'd post it for reference.

Sorry i missed this when you posted. It sounds really good. Very well done. The mix, the vibe, the programming, all very well done.

Thanks again pcrecord and kmetal -- all my mixing and recording learning has been primarily done here so you guys all deserve credit... Still lots to learn but it's nice to see and hear improvement.
