K - The last time I attemtpted one of these freebies, it wanted to uninstall all my other waves plugs.

I have no idea how good their software is lately but I dislike that company with a passion. All the money everyone spills on third party plugs is mind boggling to me. I use one DAW and never need anything more. Why everyone needs all this extra code to record and do the basic tasks is mind boggling.

I have been using GS to sell off gear this last year and its like a Slate advertising shill house over there. What a joke that is too.
The whole software craze, thinking we need more and more is Crazy.

the daw i use has terrible stock plugs. i saw a crumb from a bigwig(company waves), and they made it as annoying as ever, offline, i sent the same link (via my cell message) to ten of my fellows, got 2 thanx, 1 damn thats annoying, i 2nd the latter.

just figured i'd post it for anyone who was interested, eh i'm more interested in the trident and BAE stuff, in my life, uh i mean, the window stops, and band room finish.

couldn't agree w/ you guys more, but, for anyone who has no 'aftermarket' plugs, that may have been realavent

Since it was free I went ahead and grabbed it. I've used and liked L2 so I wanted to see what this one is like, and it can warm-up a bass track and comes with several presets that are nice, but after playing with it I don't think it would be a plugin that I would pay for. It apparently adds some harmonic boost/cut but it seems that most of what it does could be achieved with a nice EQ/compressor setup. But maybe that's the point - instead of two plugins, you can just use this one.

It does install the Waves License Center with it, so I had to create a Waves account and register the plugin.

Well, yes and no. It seems to be a slightly better version of the Maxx Bass plugin. If your bass is lackluster and can't be retracked with a better one, this might be your last resort.
There have been times where the bass track just has no overtones to work with EQ wise, and when played back on small speakers, earbuds etc, the bass simply disappears.
So, enter R-Bass. It artificially adds upper harmonics which will help give some definition to an otherwise useless bass track.

This is another one of those plugs that fall into the "When all else fails" category. It sits down at the bottom of your bag-O-tricks and when no one else was able to help your client, you save the day, and get a little better rep around town.

You would think if it makes a poor bass sound better, it should make a good bass sound great. But (at least in my experience) that's not the case.
I have never been able to make a good quality bass sound better with it.

Hmmm, that may be what I've run into, in that the bass track I've used for testing has decent tone - it doesn't really need rescuing. I just added some compression and it sounds pretty nice and solid. To test the R-Bass plugin, since I had been working on this project, I just bypassed the comp and added the R-Bass and tinkered a bit. So thanks for the input... I'll try it out the next time I run into a desperate bass track. :wink:
