Can someone please tell me what is the difference between a bus and a subgroup?

As Kurt said, a bus is two or more signals which are grouped together into a single mix path. For example, you can bus all of the drums to a single mix path. You can then send the drums sub-bus, the bass and rhythm guitar to another bus, creating a subgroup of the basic rhythm section.
It is possible to send buses to multiple paths or subgroups.
A subgroup is a bus but a bus may not necessarily be a subgroup.

A bus is anyplace in the mixer where one or more signals are mixed together and routed to another part of / or sent out of the mixer. Monitor and rev send aux's are bus's ... the master (2 mix) is a bus.
