Can you give me some opinions as to which plugins
you consider to be the best sounding?
Im using the compressor and eq that comes with the
pro tools LE at the mo,and wondering if there
is a real improvement in quality if I was to buy
different plugins, and which ones work with pro tools LE 7 the best?.

I find I keep going back to the Bombfactory LA-2A compressor plug-ins to get the sound I want and the Waves Renaissance compressor.

For EQs I like the Waves Renaissance EQ (2-band, 4-band, 6-band), or Bombfactory's Pultec-EQP1 for more vintage sounds. I've also used the McDSP FilterBank EQs before and found them to very useful.

In my opinion 3rd party plug-ins are a big upgrade. I seriously doubt if you would use the stock plug-ins very often if you bought something like one of the Waves bundles. That was certainly the case for me. I know that after Digidesign took over Bombfactory some of the vintage compressors were included with PT. I don't know if they still do that, but those are some nice plug-ins LA-2A, 1176, Fairchild.

They should all be pretty universally compatible with LE 7. But you might want to check the Digidesign website to confirm a specific set-up. They do as good a job as any manufacturer I've seen when it comes to testing compatibility issues.

I hope that helps. Good luck!
