Hey, I am new here, and relatively new to recording digital audio. My question is probably pretty simple... I hope.

What am I doing wrong here: why is Sonar 4 recording the metronome and all previously recorded (midi and/or audio) tracks on the armed track that I'm recording on? Does this have something to do with where the signal from the other tracks are sent, or do you think this is a soundcard issue?

I'm working on an Inspirn E1505 laptop, MS windows XP media center edition, with a Sigma Tel high definition audio codec [5.10.0.4866] sound card.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with Sonar. But it is just operator error.

You should aleast get yourself a real sound card(interface) if your going to use a audio program like Sonar or the like.

Check your sound recording settings and trun off, What you hear............I bet that's it.
