ok, here is it. i just built this computer
1Ghz P III
TUSL2-c mobo
60GB and 15GB GXP60 HDD's
CD-RW /creative labs
ati dual head Radeon
256MB SDRAM PC133
my interface is an Aardvark Q10, and it works great...
BUT...
i get DC noise in my outputs. Headphones, Monitors...even if i route through external gear befor the amp...still hear hard drive noise, access noise, motor noise!
it sucks.
i'm thinking up purchasing a new power supply, PC Power and Cooling 300 PFC model.
HELP!

No, line conditioners filter noise on the AC line, before it gets to your computer. The problem you have is computer generated noise reflected back into the analog section of the Ardvark Q10. A good power supply can help keep this noise from being produced in the first place(less AC ripple in the DC voltage), other things like motherboard design, hard drive design ect contribute. The Q10 is advertised to be well designed to keep computer noise out! WTF? :confused:
If you have an old Soundblaster card laying around try it and see if the problem is still there, before you put down cash for a new power supply.
Also try the Q10 in another computer to see if thats the problem.

I had this problem too, do you hear mouse movement, hard drive spin-up ect ? :confused: The PC Power and Cooling will give a purer DC output(less AC ripple), also, some motherboards reflect more spurious electrical garbage back into the power rails worse than others. Cheap power supplies f*ck up DAW's , which brand are you using to power the rig now?
