Hey folks!

After much a-do, the Partscaster I started in 2003 is now finished. It's been from around the world and through 3 separate moves, but I finally finished it. All that remains is a headstock logo, but I will get around to that when I finalize the design. It also uses 2 string trees, not pictured.

It plays like a dream. Still setting it up, still "learning" the new guitar. Sounds great, although new pickups are in the future when finances permit.

This will be my co-main axe onstage, along with my modded Epi LP Custom.

Thanks to everyone at TDPRI who helped with relicing suggestions - those guys save me from completely overdoing it.

And here it is:

The rest of us would like to admire it too. But it says, "Attachments Pending Approval", next to the attachment hyperlink.

(apparently you guys with admin privileges can see it)

Oops, my bad, missed that approval. Dave has it right! John posted this in the Open Mic which is ideal for lurkers who do not want to register. For security, all attachment and unregistered member posts in this forum are always held until approved.

I recently sold the tele I had with Bardens on it. They'll do the twang all day long, but roll off some highs, put the neck pickup in the mix and you can get a very mellow tone. I have Bill Lawrence pickups on my MIJ CAR favorite and Harmonic Designs on my Lake Placid Blue Partscaster. I'm thinking of redoing the Partscaster in more of a 52RI look, but I really have not had the time. I basically have to take over the garage to do finish work and it's a time consuming process. Hats off to you for your partscaster.

Are you out of adjustment at the bridge? Does the tele have 6 individual saddles or 3 longer double saddles? The long ones often have to be tilted to compensate for one string or the other. (low E especially)

As you probably know, the 12th fret harmonic and the note you get by fretting at the 12th fret should be the same (although the tone will be very different). The purest harmonic you can get at the 12th fret should be at the exact middle of the string's length. So the measurement from the saddles to the 12th fret harmonic should be exactly the same as the measurement from the nut to the 12th fret harmonic. If you achieve that, that is a good starting point. You have to make minor adjustments from there because perfect intonation for every note, at every fret, on every string, of a guitar is impossible. Unless you've got staggered frets you have to compromise somewhere.

If you're out of adjustment, something isn't right with the measurements.

Make sure the bridge and bolt-on neck haven't shifted under tension.
You may need to put in a shim to keep the neck from going too deep into the neck-pocket.

Good luck!
