I'm using a Focusrite ISA428 with the ADC card to clock a Digi 002r via ADAT and the internal Focusrite clock.
I noticed the 428 also has Digi x256 super clock and regular word clock in.
I have a Digi Universal Slave Driver lying around with x256 clock out. If I clock the 428 to x256 via USD which would be hooked up to Black Burst. . is this any better?... not noticable?. too much extra rack stuff?.
Would it help me sleep better at night knowing I have superclock?

Thanks for getting back to me. I guess I'll leave the USD off. I'm using the 428 as front to 002r-dongle and it also has the 4 extra line inputs which don't have transformers. I'd call it like everyone else... transparent with a touch of warmth. Quiet with 80dB of gain which comes in handy for using dynamic mics. I've tried the DIs and they are good. I like the variable mic impedance. People say it's great on drums. Only thing.... the printing is small and I have to stop and get my glasses.....
I never use the ADC soft limiter, so I can't comment.
I'd call it a really, really good utility pre that would sound great on a lot of stuff.

Obviously Superclock is a relatively dated technology used by digi to overcome deficiencies in older, less reliable digital clocks such as ADAT and video- based clocks.
There is no appreciable difference between SC and current sample accurate clocks.
On a side note, how are you liking the ISA428 and the digital interface? I've played with one at a friend's studio but am considering buying one myself for in-studio (rock, acoustic, jazz, etc...)
