East West Quantum Leap Symphony Orchestra

Has anyone, or does anyone use East West Quantum Leap Symphony Orchestra Gold software? I am in need of more realistic sounds, with articulations, and this one seems to be what I am looking for within my budget? What do you think of it, why? Would you recommend something else instead, why? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Yeah, I just picked this up during their half price sale around Christmas.
It's fairly massive and deciding what to blend with what could be a lifetime of experimentation.

I did this as a little test. Probably took about a week or so to compose, arrange and 'perform' (there are some other non EW instruments in there as well) Sounds better with a subwoofer too.

Since then I've done more tweeking and have something a little better now, but it's a little cumbersome getting around the interface and setting it all up.
I think I like it.
I would like to have more control over it. Eventually I'll get a working procedure together to get a smoother workflow. (I hope)

As far as the articulations. There's a lot of keyswitches but I haven't been able to make them useful to me (yet)
I prefer to use articulations where the mod wheel controls the intensity, so that by holding a note you can create natural dynamics. But these articulations are not available as key switches.
So it's a bit confusing for me so far. But I've only had it for the past month or so and I haven't quite gotten deep into the bowels yet.

One thing to be aware of, is that is a one way ticket purchase wise. Basically you are licensing the use of the software, so you don't really own it, and therefore, you can not re-sell it.
I knew this going in, but some people are surprised by this.

Hey thanks for your thoughts. I listened to your composition and really like it. I didn't know about not being able to resell the software but I don't really think that's a deal breaker for me. I have been doing a lot of reading about the software, listening to youtube examples of it's use and i was hoping to get some feedback from this forum and after listening to your composition I am pretty sure that I am going to purchase it. One question. What did you use for your choir sounds, I really like them?

The Choir is a bit of a combo thing.
Once upon a time, there was a sampler by EMU called the Emax. I had the first one on my block when they first came out in the early '80's Very good sound set including choir. This was all 12bit BTW.
20 years later, I sold the EMAX, but before that , I resampled many of the disks, into a Kurzweil K2000, which meant I had to also re-loop them all. And even with that 12bit sample, then re-sampled and slightly sloppily manually re-looped , I still thought it sounded better than most modern sound sets. On top of that I added another part from the FREE demo version of SAMPLETANK. There's a pretty nice little voice in there.
So that's where all that came from.

Sometimes, I have way too much time on my hands

well if it's good enough for holly wood, it should be good enough for anyone. i've only read mag reviews of east west, but they are always raving. from what i gather, you can find perhaps, 'better' individual/specific sample libraries/players, like a string section, or brass section, but i haven't heard of any other encompasing symphonic library that out does the east west set. as someone who's wasted too much money on 'almost' equipment, you may just want to bite the bullet and get the platinum, or whatever is their top offer. their not gonna just put filler, but there's probably some real excellent things they'll include. to me it;s either bang for the buck, or all out. there is no middle ground it seems w/ software packages. if your this serious about symphonic sounds, ya may as well not compromise. just my opinion.
