Hi,

Just wanted to know if someone's tried this eight preamp combo. If yes... How do you like it and, most important, where did you find it? I just searched every online store I know and couldn't find it. I don't even know its price, just seems like the gear I must have for the portable setup I'm putting together (MOTU 828 + iBook).

Thanks for any help

As another option, check out the PreSonus Digimax, and the new Digimax LT. Class A preamps, pretty amazing! The LT version is new, and lacks the limiter and some of the digital outs, but still can send all 8 outs via ADAT lightpipe.

I *love* the Digimax...it has made a huge difference in the sound of my recordings. I am using the D/A converters in it as well to feed my Echo Layla/24 as an ADAT lightpipe feed. I have not tried or heard the new Digimax LT (it is about half the price of the regular Digimax), but I hear that it has a lot of the same "guts" as the regular Digimax.

Hey I too want to know more about the Octopre. Has anyone seen any prices for it? Can I buy it on-line? None of the big on-line retailers have it listed.

Since focusrite has come out with their Octopre, (I know it doesen't offer as many output options but I only need 8 outputs at a time) I'd love to compare the digimax and the octopre side by side. I know that the Octopre features Class A Preamps, compression, basically everything that the Digimax has with possibly a few less outputs .... And both of these units look like they would be great for mobile recording. Can't wait to here other opinions.

Cheers
