Greetings Recording.org!

Having an issue with my Focusrite Scarlett Solo Gen 2 2i2.

I have tested both my microphone and the cable on a separate audio interface and have found them to work. I believe I have isolated the issue to the interface. Upon connection of an XLR cable, the input level led signal is flickering/flashing all over the place.

Any ideas on what the issue could be? Thinking about taking it into a local parts electrician to see if they would know. Any more information needed? Attached is a video of the issue.

TESTING: the only audio coming from the interface (tested with Audacity) is complete crackling white noise. I should mention that sometimes it does work though, for very brief periods. And the input levels drastically increase when the XLR port is disturbed, think very loud crackles vs a chiller white noise when not disturbed.

I really appreciate any advice, this looks like a fine piece of technology and I would love to get it working again. Really wouldn't like to throw this out.

I don't know that particular Focusrite model, but I would start by looking closely at the solder joints of the XLR connector on the underside of the circuit board. It's hard to tell from your video, but that model may have a surface-mount XLR, in which case, the joints are on the top (component) side,

I had one of the Scarlett family brought in to me with a similar fault. The owner initially denied that it had fallen off a table and been caught by the mic cable, but I showed him the evidence of cracked joints and he admitted it could have happened. A quick re-soldering of the XLR pins brought it back to life.
