Hey all figured I'd start a thread where we can post links to free plugins. That way everything is all in one place. I'm sure some of these will be limited time offers but at least it's all together.

I'll start w this which is unfortunately only good till the end of today July 24 2016. It also requires an ilock.

That said the demo vid sounds killer in an 80's sort of way. I'm actually very excited about this. Gotta thank my buddy for the link. It's a soft synth.

Kyle...
I think the freeware is where you "can" have potential problems... I say "can" because that's not always the case.
I have plugs from several companies on my system - Waves, Eventide, Slate, Acustica, Tokyo Dawn, along with the native stock from Samplitude ... and stability based on using a variety of plugs or samples from different sources doesn't seem to be a problem for me. During the times where things are hiccuping on me, I know it's because I'm using 5 -year old technology and system resources, and not the plugs themselves. I think it's safe to say that the higher the quality of VSTs and VSTi's we use, the more system resources they will require. So, I don't put the blame on the DAW or the Plugs... it's my responsibility to provide the best resources so that the DAW, plugs, samples and sims can work at their intended optimum. I can't blame the companies for making solid, hi-quality products and platforms. ;)
FWIW

My computers are usually pretty modest, even at the studio they’re not goliaths. I’ve found channel strips to be a saving grace. Bussing as well.

Ozone plugs in particular are very efficient I think.

Another thing that took me a bit to learn is you don’t need, or can’t always have the most insane plugins for everything. Seeking best available quality, I would put like convolution verbs on BAckup Vocal #34, lol, or my favorite eq or compressor emulation. This would choke up the hardware, and I hypothesize bottleneck the audio as well. Ya know I chaulk it up to learning curve.

I do believe less is more these days, and I also suppprt having a few varieties of plugs to avoid stacking. Since all the hardware units sound different, I see no issue personally having a couple LA-2 style or ssl style or whatever pluggins. I’m also a fan of plugs that just get the sound quick, which is how I justify some variety as well. Some simple compressors like the R-Comp really can get things moving along quickly.

If only they had freeware in 19” rackmount form eh!?

Another freebie here. The Xpand Vsti. I’ve used this on my old protools 7 setup, and really liked it. Found it super easy to drag and drop sounds in to layer. I also like how you can just record a wav, and drop it in, and play it on a keyboard.

Anyway this doesn’t include the PT pluggin format, which shouldn’t be an issue with most of us here. It is the VST and AU version. I believe this free offer is running until NOV 31, 2017.

I’ve purchased from this site before, it’s perfeclty legit. Here’s the link to the freebie.

Thanks pal. :)
Would you mind letting us know what you think about it? Maybe do a mini review kinda thing once you get a chance to put it through its paces?
:)

if my opinion on what it sounds like via a laptop means anything, sure. theres a winter storm heading up the coast so maybe ill mess around with it in the next day or so.

Oh boy... Another one? You guys have really been getting walloped by Mother Nature lately... be safe.
I went ahead and got a license for the Overloud API EQ yesterday evening, though I haven't had a chance to use it yet. It must be a popular download right now, it took me a few tries to get their page to open, but I finally was able to download it and get the license for it . Thanks again for the heads up on it, Kyle!

glad to share the 411!i played around with it for a few minutes last night. i think the eq is pretty decent. It isnt HiFi, or very similar to the 500b (500 series) module the pluggin resembles. i wish there was a way to turn off the harmonics/distortion section, to make this pluggin appropriate for more things. even messing with the gain structure, would not yield a super clean result, but i dint think clean was the aim. There is something cool about how the harmonics/distortions interact with the dynamics of the performance, in a very analog nature. the sound is akin to the decapitator on medium settings, but less grainy. it has a vintage sound, almost breaking up like a walkie talkie or hand radio, in a more mild way. the mid range is exceptionally good, much better than the waves api eq mid range. setting that should sound gross, like +15db @5khz, really never get as ugly as you'd expect. the mids on this eq are really good. which is a place many eqs dont shine. theres a nice rich cut to it. the top leaves a bit to be desired, and the lows are functional from what i can gather on these laptop speakers.

these just my first impressions based on the one singer/acoustic track, which is just something i had on hand, not necessarily where id reach for an api anyway. im looking forward to using the pluggin on kick, snare and, bass, more typical sources for an api. i could see this getting some use on electronic tracks that need some good overdrive to them.

my first impression is its not the end all eq, but its got an excellent mid range, something alot of eqs dont. im sure theres other uses ill find for it, and it definitely beats the waves api by a mile.

i got a couple of extra licenses with some of my Alt emails. never hurts to have extra seats for my slave pcs, or various mobile/podcast rigs. i like to think of it as being safe or opportunistic, not greedy.

i can post some audio up later on. im interested to hear anyone elses thoughts on it as well, i know im pretty much guessing at this point. cheers!

p.s one very cool feature on the pluggin is a standalone mode. i used it to eq the audio coming thru my soundcard like youtube, ect. it would be a welcome feature on many pluggins.

Great review, Kyle... Thanks.
Yeah,my thought is that if I were going for a "cleaner"sound, I probably wouldn't be reaching for an API anyway...any APIAgear I've ever worked with ( in 500 Series format) always had some "edge"/"grit" to the mid-range, pretty pronounced in that area. I wouldn't ever describe API as having a"smooth" sonic character, but it certainly has its place for things where you want to bring that fundamental range forward for things like vocals or electric guitars ( or I suppose, even making a snare "pop" more).
I haven't had a whole lot of time on API hardware, just occasions to use their 500 stuff over the years, but I'm certainly not well-versed enough with it to be considered to be 'knowledgable" with it.
It's not like I used it hundreds of times or anything .
I'll check it out myself some time this week .:)

This is a score.! It’s a GK bass amp sim. The full version has been on my hit list for a while, but this might be all I need. I bought their amp sim a while back for 5$ at GC, without hearing it, assuming it was crap. On the contrary, Audified is just a small company, they make high quality stuff.

Get it while it’s free!
