Kurt Foster, (and/or anyone else who has spent some time on the newest ( or newer) versions of Harrison's MixBus DAW platform)...

Kurt...
about a year and a half ago, you and I were discussing the newest Harrison Mixbus version that was out at the time, I'm fairly certain it was vers. 3.0 (?)

They've since come out with another version, 3.6, and I was wondering if you'd had a chance to work on either of these versions since the last time we discussed it, and if so, what your thoughts are about it... overall sound, ease, compatibility, layout, etc.

My version is older, Mixbus 2/32 bit. I never did upgrade to the 64 bit version. There are things about vers 2 that I really liked; one of the main things was working on a GUI that was laid out graphically as a Harrison 32 desk...but my older version was lacking some tools I often rely on, (such as midi, as well as not being universally compatible with all VST's). This may have just been the built-in limitations of the 32 bit version. (Not that I'm complaining, as I felt the $40 price tag was totally worth it at the time).

The newest, vers 3.6 /24 bit ( or is it 32?) is priced as it was when I got my version several years back... it's $39.
So, it's not like I'd be breaking the bank taking the chance in upgrading to the newest version, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on it first ( or anyone else who uses the newer versions).

Harrison Mixbus 3.6

Thanks :)
-d.

i have never got it up and running. i bought it and installed it but i never have got around to doing anything. i don't think i'm hearing as well as i used to and to be honest there's nothing i have been excited about to record around here. i've been selling off a lot of stuff. almost ready to move the last of my guitars. maybe buy an inexpensive parlour guitar to keep around in the living room. i'll always want to have the ability to do something if i need to but actually doing it is another thing. piles of cash usually motivate me. not too much of that where i live and i'm not ready to move to LA or Nashville.

it looks like MIXBUS does midi now.

the $600 32C bundle looks interesting.

(Edit)
Mobile recording is a good frontier. Location track and mixdown back in your private control room. Why don't you look into that Kurt?

I hear you though. If musicians don't have excess money, either would we.

Yup, I recorded for the city festival each year. A huge event that goes onto the Nationals. I walk in with $25,000 in high definition recording gear and leave two days later with $100. HA!

But wait, I also take it back to my $200,000 studio and prepare it all for CD adjudication. I cannot complain though... they supply me with the envelopes and say very kind things about me! :D

Then I share all I have learned over the years here. Got to love the music business. We certainly do not do it for the money.

After reading this, I think I need drugs, my head hurts lol.
