How do you like the new forum?

I waited almost 2 years to upgrade our forum. Today its now current. There are some things that may not migrate over but I'm working on it.

How do you like it so far? Any suggestions?

Hey Donny, really good to hear you are well and back! All is well up here. Looking forward to seeing more of you indeed! :D

Hi, old friend.
All is well, and I’ll try to pop in here more frequently.
I hope you are well. :)

Kurt!
Old pal :)
I thought of you a few weeks ago; you popped into my head while I was reading an SOS article on an Audient console, thinking, “Well, I know that Kurt Foster would give me his blessing to buy this!” (Unfortunately, I currently lack the funds equivalent to both a lung and a kidney to make that actually happen). ;)
I plan on being around RO a bit more frequently, as time allows.
I hope you have been well, and are doing okay.
:)

we're pretty good here. hunkering down waiting for this all to pass. thanks for asking.

yeah, i still look at consoles all the time. i'm thinking of getting a couple of small japa neve Yamaha's and an OTARI 8 track. the only thing is i can't tell myself why i want them other than g.a.s.

I look at them, too.
I guess that some of us older guys still feel the attraction.
Honestly, though, even if I could afford a console (that I would want, as I’d never buy just any console just for the sake of having a console), I have no idea where I’d put it in my current location (a condo), which is where I’ve been since late 2016.
I have a decently treated space that’s nice to mix in, and to do small recording projects and overdubs, but it doesn’t allow me the luxury of space for a console... perhaps a small format, but, LOL, I’m not nearly as attracted to those as I am the LFC’s.
And, there’s the guaranteed bump in the electric bill, along with the heat they give off... and, the eventual maintenance, which as we know isn’t a question of “if”, but only a certainty of “when”...
They sure are fun to look at, though.
;)

i rent out my shop so i don't have any space either. that's why i 'm attracted to those small m series Yamaha's. hi volt rails, transformer s, individual cards with through the hole build. very easy to mod. really cool little mixers.

I’d have it running already but it seems no matter what CMS I install, our current forum, xenforo is very difficult to make anything interface with it. So frustrating.
So the CMS would be independent from our forums but miles ahead of our forum in regards to functionality and expanding. So yes... the CMS would have everything you could imagine. I'm thinking you want to use it to extend your business? It would do that very well!

It became much more convenient. But it would be nice if you added more sections for topics.

Any suggestions?

I have noticed that there is a similar posts box at the bottom - which seems to go back a long way? On this page there are two from 2002, so we'll get lots of regenerated posts, and I guess people are not noticing the age - May 28th 2002 is one to click on, just below this one!

Is there a way to sort the the similar posts by data?

Similar threads always show a list of years. I've never liked similar threads so I've removed it all together.

Even a year back doesn't show accurate similar threads. Its a poorly coded function imho.
The only way to improve them is to create more categories like guitars, drums, bass, preamps, consoles etc etc etc.. which we just merged into general discussions.

(I think) Similar threads are based on the first, second, third etc word of a title of each thread. Which shows how important it is to title our threads.

I like what I see...

The function that automatically translates links is nice. I hope you realise it's also a security risk. You can no longer see what you're clicking on. As users don't have the habit to clean tracking from links they post, it'll make Facebook et al very happy. It als occasionally makes for long page loading times, if the linked site is unavailable. A pita for old posts.

I always try to clean up links. If you copy the link from the address bar on page in question, everything up to the question mark is the link, everything from the question mark to the end is the tracking data. Don't copy links to non-FB sites from FB.
