How do you like the new forum?

I waited almost 2 years to upgrade our forum. Today its now current. There are some things that may not migrate over but I'm working on it.

How do you like it so far? Any suggestions?

Eager to give it a try, two logins doesn’t sound that bad?

Cool

In time I'm certain we will be able to merge it all into a SSO. We'll start out with selected members having write permission and see how it goes.

@Link555

What would your main use of the CMS be for and what would you want included to make it awesome for you? The more you can tell me the better.

It could be useful to document some techniques. Like a FAQ or a wiki. You know, acoustics, measurement, mic placement...

Excellent suggestions.

I used to run a site, in Dutch, about the subject...

But that's many years ago. Ads on the site yielded some hundreds of euros a year. Enough to cover the cost. Then FB came along. A site like that still yields about a hundred euros per year. Not really enough to cover costs.

It's not that that made me stop it. It's the continuous attacks on the server. I'm too old to waste my time with updates and patches. Still, it wasn't until systemd came along. That was enough to pull the plug.

Anyhow, if you can use an old dog to lend a hand, drop me a message. This community seems worth saving.

I've never used Drupal, even when I used to know Dries. It's more of a development environment than a real CMS. And I'm not a dev, just a writer with some passion for the subject... :D

(edited with some updated cms features)

We're still a ways to go before I can implement the CMS the way I hope because our current xenforo software developers don't seem to want third party code being used with their forum. I feel it will be their demise if they don't get on board with what is going to be mainstream (SSO) soon enough.
Think of it like MIDI and how that revolutionized the entire music industry. Good code should be able to talk to other products these days. Especially (SSO) "single sign on" login credentials .
Modular integration with other products are the future.

Right now I have both Drupal and WordPress installed ready to go. I much prefer Drupal because it is extremely secure and packed with features. Either CMS, as of today, members would have two separate logins/ two separate accounts on recording.org. It would be confusing for those not realizing why they can't login to one of the two after they just registered.
One login for the CMS and one for the forums... .

Never the less, despite the two logins... I may still open it up for the members that want to use it.

Regarding what it would include. Basically just ask what you'd like us to have and we may be able to install it.
We'd start with

  • front page
  • blogs
  • business websites ( everything music related)
  • tutorials
  • directory
  • taxonomy
class="xf-ul">

Awesome. Tutorials, blogs, websites and resource (manuals, pdfs, ect) would be my first areas of interest.

How about a live podcast or group online meeting?
Drupal Pod Cast and Links module[/HEADING]>

Pretty cool eh! That modular isn’t supported by the security team though. Keep in mind that we are on Drupal 9 which is the most current stable version. Older modules may not work.
super cool you are doing research! Drupal is awesome!

Indeed. Nothing is installed other than the button to the forum and a list of the latest current topics, which is why it looks that way.
