It's plain to see that not too many of us have all the money we need. We all face constraints when it comes to funding our passion, recording.

How do all of you deal with this? Where do you cut corners with your investment in audio? By now, I am pretty sure you all know my preferences but I am really interested in learning what yours are. ? I hope this topic can shed some light on the advantages and pitfalls of equipment purchasing for everyone ... Please discuss ...

Hardly, you posted in a 7-year-old thread that was referring to AUDIO GEAR purchases. And because I just got out of surgery a couple of days ago and am still in some "discomfort", I'm probably going to come off like an old grump, but...what you originally posted is SPAM, don't argue with the senior moderator. And you should have started a new thread, not hitchike an old one. That makes YOU look ignorant....

Do you think for a minute that I cant access your IP? Did you also think that the wording and history in your BLOG isnt almost word for word the personal information on the site you assumedly 'found' ? Do you think that I just assume one thing or another without checking it out first?

Anyway, if you want to post in the business section for your service be my guest. This isnt the appropriate forum for this. No matter what you think.

Actually the Front Page Publishing is the proper forum for this. Scroll down to find it.

Impulse, there's no point even posting a defence. You are always welcome to offer a reasonable service here. But anybody trying to trick people into trying something out is never gonna last more than a few seconds here.

Its hardly DIY but I find it fascinating how often (and its fairly infrequent) I mention the 7C stuff here and the OP just flat ignores it. The DIY suggestion is incredibly insightful - not because the latest person who stated it is a genius, but because in fact, without a pretty damn good understanding of transformer loading, slew rates, capacitance, bandwidth, headroom etc etc most purchasers are going to be stumbiling in the dark - yet when presented with 3 options at $700 - one with a screen-printed front and $600 innards, one with a BIG LCD and $200 innards, and one reverse-engineered from an already bad circuit - the excuses I see people putting forward to justify the flashing-light purchase around the interwebz are nothing short of legendary.

If I had a cent for the amount of people planning to spend $1500 and "go pro" without an understanding of what a transformer load would do to a mic, well, I could buy Dave's goatee, or at least put down a downpayment.

Why don't people even try to begin to understand the theory - but yet they are prepared to shell out what is big money for them - $1, 2, $3,000!! If I wanted to buy a race car I'd spent more time talking to people before I bought - most people are pretty distrustful of mechanics, who really have no vested interest - but people will just hop on, ask a question, and then shell out $3k, albeit on credit....!?

If you want to save money and if you are considering creating lots of audio products, I highly recommend that you create your own professional recording studio. If you want to produce quality products, you must be willing to invest on your recording tools and equipments. When doing your recording, make sure that you observe appropriate pacing.
