If you have Rebirth you could play around the oscillators and modify the sound of a bass to get that sound as well..otherwise you would need a real 303 and send it thru some sort of distortion box as pan had stated. Also if you have Reason you could possibly get that sound as well. It all depends on what you have for gear and soft synths..let us know and we can try and help you out even further

Howdy

To me it sounds like two sync'ed square waves, one with a fixed width and one with a variable width. It may also be that the original sound generation device was a polyphonic synth in "unison" mode, perhaps a "Memorymoog" or something like that.

To create a sound like this you'll need two square waves whose waveform:

- can be hard sync'ed
- can have continously adjustable width

In addition to the "Memorymoog", I think the Roland JX-10 and "Super JX" excelled at these sorts of sounds.

I can tell you now that that is a Roland tb-303. I can also tell you that is from a original tb-303. I can also tell you that is from Josh Winks "Higher State of consciousness" circa 1993 or 1994. You should be able to download that from somewhere it was a pretty popular dance track. Sometimes people would run those boxes with battery power. When the batteries ran low you could get a different sound out of them. I'm no 303 expert and to tell you the truth I think it's a played out sound. If you really want to find out about the tb-303 ask these guys:

They have made some crazy mods to that thing and they might beable to locate you one. Beware they are way over priced. Hope this helps.
