I'm glad to be here!

Hey guys!

I just signed up after stumbling across the site whilst researching a certain Uni assignment. It looked cool, and seems to be so much information here! I'm sure lots of people here would be no end of help to me (as well as looking through what seems to be thousands of decent threads!).

So, I've just started my first year at University doing a Sound Engineering & Production degree and am eager to learn. I seem to take a lot of information in by reading, so I was wondering if any of you guys could recommend any texts I should look through and what I would benefit from reading?

Thanks in advance, and nice to meet you all!

Hi, and welcome!

For live sound work, a classic text is the Yamaha [=""]Sound Reinforcement Handbook[/]="…"]Sound Reinforcement Handbook[/].

For studio tips and tricks, Howard Massey's [Behind the Glass[/]="…"]Behind the Glass[/] has interesting recollections from various famous producers and engineers.

For mastering and other pro-audio matters, Bob Katz's [="http://www.soundons…"]Mastering Audio[/]="http://www.soundons…"]Mastering Audio[/] is well worth looking at. There is now a second edition with claimed "50% new material".
