Hi! So I finally decided to pull out some of my old tapes and digitally remaster them. I originally recorded these on a Tascam 688 (standard audio cassette tapes, 8 tracks unidirectional). I have an eight channel snake running from the 688 to the 002 rack.

Two questions: On the 002, I have channels 1-4 set to Line/Inst on the front, but I'm not sure if I should set 5-6 & 7-8 to +4 or -10. Secondly where should I set the gain knobs for 1-4 so that they loosely correspond to the signal input on 5-8?

Thanks all!

Set your gsin knobs so your reference tone from the tape equals your reference level, -20, -18, -16, or -14 whatever you have determined it to be.
With analog tape, 0VU at +4 can use a -14 digital level.
