I had a basic midi question for a beginer. I have a mpc and just got a keyboard... I want to connect them together and use the mpc as the main sequencer....
After connection is done, how do I here the audio from both machines....
midi only sends the commands right?
BTW I have powered monitors connected to the mpc.... thanks for your time. I hope the question sounds ok !!!!!
Yes, MIDI only sends information telling your MIDI gear what to do. You will need a mixer to mix the sounds of your keyboard and MPC together.
What keyboard are you using? If it also has a sequencer you may be better off triggering the MPC with the keyboard sequencer. Or you can run both sequencers, one as the slave and one as the master.
Give us more details about your gear and your goals and we can help you more effectively.
Thanks for your response.... here are a few more details... I have the MPC 4000 w/ 8 outs
and a trition keyboard basic le. I just got some powered monitors that are hooked up to the mpc.
I don't have a computer or any mixer as of yet. I have alot to learn on the mpc and keyboard to last me the next year and I would realy like to stack up some beats before I ever think about recording any thing...
as far as the midi is concerned some one told me That if I want to here the audio... then I can run audio cable between both machines, as well as the midi cable...
He also said that I can save everything to the mpc cdrw and then come back to the song later on....
Just wondering if I realy need a mixer in order to hear both the triton and mpc at the same time..
thanks for your time.... this is a great forum for beginer like me !!!
I am not sure about the triton le. But if it has at least 2 audio inputs then you can take the L/R/ output of the MPC and connect them to the in's of the triton and monitor from there. Connect the speakers to the outs of the triton.
Eventually you will need a separate mixer to really take full advantage of what you have. A small Mackie 1402VLZ(or equivalent) should do just fine.
Good luck and welcome to the world of madness.
