Care to elaborate a little? Are you trying to monitor an input while recording? If so try turning on Record Monitoring (the little triangular "play" symbol toggles between Off, On and Auto: the last one disables input monitoring during playback but enables it again when actually recording)

yes tried it but when i plug headphone and speakers it wont play

You're going to have to provide more information if you want any help with this.

eg: what platform (PC or mac)? What interface? Have you set up your drivers in Reaper? Is this a general problem of not getting any noise out of Reaper, or is it just a problem with input monitoring?

sorry bout that im using PC on my laptop under Windows 7. i use ASIO.. the problem is I can hear it while nothing is connected if i connected it with a separate speaker or headphone it wont let me hear the monitor

ASIO is just a driver model: what interface are you using? Or did you mean ASIO4ALL with a generic built-in soundcard?

Also, the second part makes no sense: if nothing is connected how are you hearing it? Do you mean you hear it from your laptop speakers?

yes ASIO4ALl with a generic built in soundcard.

and about the 2nd part yes i only can hear it through laptop speakers

Ok, open the settings page (control + P) and select the Audio -> Device tab. Make sure that "Audio System" is set to ASIO, and "ASIO driver" is set to ASIO4ALL.

Now you need to make sure that the correct inputs and outputs are enabled in the fields below.

Does that make any difference?

it wont let me hear anything/record while im using the headphones/speakrs
