In a post in another forum Roger Nichols states that he did a shoot with a Rane ms1 preamp ($150 retail) and it came out either first or second everytime with an Avalon preamp... he also states that he did a whole steely dan album using nothing but ranes... Any one tried the Rane Ms1 preAMP?

The Rane MS-1 is a cheap and decent little preamp that has been around for along time. It is very basic and plain. It also suffers and affects your original sound like many preamps do when used it's lower and higher gain settings.
