I currently have the Fast Track Pro. It's a piece of @#$@. I can't really complain about the recording quality or the hardware itself. It works well on Mac. However, the Windows drivers, and technical support are quite frankly @#$#ed.

I want to take this thing back to the store and exchange it for something else. The MOTU interface is double the price. It has a lot more features that I don't need, but I'm completely willing to pay the price as long as the damn thing works. Has anyone got the MOTU Audio Express 6x6 Hybrid Firewire-USB 2.0 Interface? Any comments on this?

Really, I just want to know: does the thing work properly in Windows 7 all the time? And, if I try to call support, will I get shuffled around like a mofo and never have my question answered? I just ask because if so, the MOTU is definitely a step ahead of the FTP.

Please, no need to comment on the feature gaps. The FTP has all the features I need... Except that it doesn't work.

Well. It appears MOTU haven't won too many people over with their support either.

"MOTU Wins worst tech support in industry"
Is there money in that or is it just the prestige?

It's a battle they wage with m-audio and a few software companies for bragging rights.Of course, there may be side bets...

I'm just looking for an audio interface that will a) WORK b) Have support behind it for when a) fails.

I actually do wonder if these vendors take the approach of "Lets see how many suckers will buy our crap based solely on our reputation... Which can't be tarnished because everyone is offering the same level of service: 0".

WTF? Please read the OP. This thread is about comparing two interfaces.

Anyway, I ended up buying a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB. It's been pretty decent. The support has been good. But, I get a high pitched hissing noise coming out of the outputs. Really bloody annoying. But, at least FocusRite are working with my to try to solve it. Not like M-Audio who just ignored me.

Sounds like you computer is the problem, if all these interfaces are experiencing problems. could be hardware related, or perhaps there's something running in the background.
FWIW, Since your main question was 'which one will work', it's tough to answer w/ no detail given on your intentions of use, your computer's specs, your room ect.
This is why even tho you've tried different interfaces, neither one works. it's not the interfaces, both are reasonable and are capable of doing what they say.
