I am looking to find some not-to-expensive equipment for playing music at a school. I am not sure how big the room is going to be, but I think 2 speakers would cover it. There is going to be a guitar, piano, and maybe drums. Basically I am looking for something that is portable and can easily be moved around. I guess I would need a mixer/monitor, a few mics, and thats all I can really think of. Thanks for the help.

You probably need to do some soul searching on how you are going to use this system over the next couple of years. If this is just going to be used for a few gigs you are better off renting. If this is a regular gig, you need to spec it out to get the best performance for the price. If you are going to be doing a lot of different projects or support a band with a lot of different configurations you need to prepare for that.

If you need something portable and versatile, I like building a system with at least some powered speakers. Sort of a jack of all trades - master of none piece of equipment. I've used my JBL EONs for FOH, monitors, bass amp, keyboard amp, DJ support, speaker on a stick for an academic meeting. Real workhorse. Tough. Easy to carry. Nice to have a couple hanging around.
