I'm having trouble holding this certain mix together. The vox just doesn't seem to sit right, and I seem to be dealing with several pieces instead of a "gestalt" recording.

If you're going to ask for help, the least that you could do is make it easy for people to help you. For starters, I think the vocal is too low. Secondly, the space around the vocal is juxtaposed to the track. The vocal sounds like it has a medium room on it and something close to a doubler. The track is dry as a bone. Sometimes this sort of treatment can be cool, in this case I feel it makes the listener uneasy. This is probably why you don't feel the vocal sits right in the track.

The drummer isn't the greatest in the world, so make the drums more of a wash rather than trying to define the pattern so much. The cymbals are too loud, and the kick is too uneven to put that loud. The timing descrepecies can be cool, if you don't allow them to be too naked and obvious.

The rhythms of the guitars with the drums in the chorus is very klunky. They're all playing the same eight note pattern. If one of them was adding a little syncopation to the rhythm, the chorus might be more effective. That might be causing some of your perceived problems too. Unfortunately, that's a production problem.
