THis is probably a stupid question, but I had to ask. Does this thing turn off? The light on the I/O box only goes out when I shut down my comp, is that normal, or did I miss something in the manual.

It's normal. The 001 gets it's power from the computer you run it on ..... didn't you ever notice there's no power cord. So if your computer's on the 001 is on & vice versa.
