Im trying to put together a pack of things that may come in handy during a session.
the list so far..
moving blackets, flashlight, duct tape, soldering kit, moon gels, kick beater (DW hard core beater), kick pads.
I was thinking guitar and bass strings too or that going too far?
I was thinking of some sort of lubricant for squeaky kick pedals..what works best?

Players are pretty picky about their strings, and there are a lot of different types/brands out there, so I wouldn't go too far with that. Besides, what decent player doesn't carry extra sets or spare singles with them? OK, maybe a couple of 0.10/0.13 plains and 0.45 roundwound bass....
I try to keep from using WD-40 except on the doorlocks of my pick-up. A better lubricant for drum hardware (IMHO), and this is another personal choice, is "gun oil", which I get from a local hardware store. It comes in a little tube with a needle-type applicator, so it doesn't make a mess. Also have a "spray-tube" of graphite powder (now, THAT can be a mess!), and a can of silicone spray, along with some paper towels, a drum key, and a Leatherman. I tend to avoid the duct tape scenario as much as possible..."gaffers' tape" works better and doesn't leave the sticky mess that the duct tape does. This is also called "spike tape", and you can get different widths to make labels, attach pads to drumheads, and run scribble strips on the console. There really is no end, eh? Oh yeah, don't forget that can of DeOxit!

Don't forget every kind of adapter you can think of in its own case for easy access, filtered water (room temp) for vocalists, system install disks, app installs, extra computer cables (firewire, scsi, whatever), blank notebook for production/engineering notes, and time log sheets for hours worked (for prepaid customers with time left at the end of the session to sign/initial).

if you are gonna stock strings youre gonna end up worse than a music store. theres only 2 packs i would ever use, and i would prefer a custom over them ANY day, which is very impractical without calling the company up and personally requesting a custom set.
if someone tried to give me a set of 9s theyd receive a nice kick to the face (play 50ish-11 dpeending on whats in stock, sometimes 54-12)
