I am working with a few MIDI/audio projects in Logic. I want to record some drums and strings off of my motif and into logic to incorporate with the software synths already in the project. Is there any quick way to get these samples to adhere to the grid so that I can quantize them the same way that I would a MIDI piece? I am no logic master but the only way I see to do it would be to put anchors on every single drum hit so that I could line them up exact where I miss beats here and there. Any more efficient suggestions?

I am recording the audio directly into logic from the MOTIF. I have never tried recording the track as MIDI and then rendering to audio. Can I get the MIDI data from Logic to play samples from the MOTIF and do it that way? I could use any help you could offer. Thanks in advance, Eric,

You most certainly can do that. As far as how that happens in Lo
You most certainly can do that. As far as how that happens in Logic, I dont know as I am a Cubase guy. For me, Cubase knows all of my synths and what midi port they are hooked-up to. All I have to do is select a midi track, select the hardware synth I want on that track, choose a midi channel, and select what sound I want from that synth. It should be somewhat similiar. At the same time, you should have a way to monitor the audio of your Motif. So record the midi track with the motif sounds or internal sounds, plug-ins, whatever. Then tweak the midi track until you have just the performance that you want. Then all you have to do is playback the track with the Motif being driven by the midi track and record the audio output of the Motif into your soundcard at the same time. This is how it should all work theoretically. As far as the specifics of Logic, I'm sorry I cant help you more. I can tell you that this would be a very basic chore for Logic so there IS a way to do it. Probably easier than you think. Hope this helps.

Why cant you just quantize the entire midi track? Are you recording the track as midi and then rendering to audio? Or are you just trying to record the audio output of the Motif straight into Logic?
