Alright, so here are the interface's ive been looking at.

MOTU 828mkII

PreSonus Firestudio

RME Fireface 800.

MOTU 896HD

MOTU 8pre

Basically, preamps are a plus, but they arent nessisary, because I have a Mackie 1604 with 16 preamps. However, having some nicer preamps than the XDRs on the Mackie would be nice (they arent colorful enough for me)

I definitely want firewire, and something that works well with cubase.

Mainly I just care about the AD/DA, and general sound quality / quality.

Opinions?

I've got a Focusrite Saffire LE, and I'm very satisfied with it's sound quality - except the preamps, which are only OK; works perfectly on my PCI-Firewire card with a TI chipset. So you could also look into the Saffire range from Focusrite (the Pro 26, if you need a lot of I/O)- the preamps should be better or at least the same as the ones in your Mackie desk.

Just my two cents worth...
