So I'm recording some songs and I'm not sure if it's worth to stick to the amp as it's a bit more hassle to record given that it starts making some cracling noises from time to time, and is much louder to record with.
Here's a 3 second sample of my strat going into my dist/delay pedal and then into a solid state frontman 212r amp recorded by an sm57 on one side, and from the pedal into my soundcard and into a modeled recorded fender combo in guitar rig 5.
I won't tell you which is which, let's see if you guys can tell which is which by panning the left and right to listen to each, and more importantly which one you guys think sounds better?

Guitar rig came with Sonar but, it's not my go to... I prefer Amplitube but only if we can't find a way to get the sound we want with a real amp.
Yeah well, I've got an Emu 0202 AI good converters? I wish I had a good room, I'd say I like my amp, and all I have is the sm57 when it comes to mics.

There's nothing better than the real thing in a good room with good mics choice and placement with the right preamps !! But if you don't have all that. A simulator can work if you are willing to tweak it. You need a good DI with good converters tho!
