Mic placement exactly for top and bottom?, EQ boosts and cuts where?, Reverb settings guesstimation?

Thx,

Unanswerable question #10009927256

Specific instrument sounds are impossible to replicate completely, even by the original engineer. Same room? Same mic? Same drummer? Same snare? Same gear? Same sample? Same air pressure that day?

I know I'm being a stickler but it's true, I promise.

Now, if you ask, "how do you achieve this kind of snare drum attack?", it may be more answerable, which audiokid alluded to when he mentioned a TD. Granted, there are many different "flavors" of snare sounds and many can be described under certain umbrella headings but, IMO, there is no way to instruct someone how to achieve the exact sound on a record for the mere reason that all sounds are unique to the day. You can come close, possibly, but it's way more worth your while to learn the tools that engineers use to manipulate audio more thoroughly (like the TD).

Cheers :)
